Incentive Community Education Charitable Foundation has developed a program to create awareness on the harmful effects of drugs and the trail of destruction that it leaves.
We deliver our “Dangers of Drugs program” to schools and communities. Within the program we discuss all types of drugs on the streets, currently focusing mainly on ICE.
What makes our program so interesting for the kids are the fact we bring in Narcotic Detection dogs to demonstrate, this keeps our audience enthusiastic and wanting to know more.
The sad stories that we hear from the children during and after our awareness sessions of either their own situation or of people close to them having to deal with the challenges of this ice epidemic is gut wrenching. After one of our recent demonstrations a very shy fifteen-year-old girl came quietly up to us and asked if we could help, as she and her brother had been taken away from their mother. Her words were: “Mum loves ICE more than she loved us.”
After each demonstration there is anywhere from one to 10 students who come forward and open up to us with their own stories of drugs and the challenges associated. Our ‘Dangers of Drugs’ program is an effective preventative measure and also offers great guidance and support to children of all ages. The program can additionally advise families regarding avenues of assistance.
We launched the ‘Dangers of Drugs’ program in 2014 and thus far every school that we’ve contacted have been extremely enthusiastic about running the program; however one challenge for most schools is budget restrictions.
After conducting our program to several schools, we have received countless calls for help from families associated with drugs. To aid these families and continue with our Dangers of Drugs Program we are now active in raising money so we may continue to present our ‘Dangers of Drugs’ program throughout more schools, on a larger scale. We aim to bring about more awareness of just how dangerous street drugs such as ICE are, and what damage they do to families, individuals and the community as a whole.
Schools are now actively fundraising to have the Dangers of Drugs program at their facility each year.
